National Coding Week is an annual event that aims to help adults and children with learning digital skills. In celebration of National Coding Week 2023, DYW Live will be putting out a live career inspiration session in the morning to inspire young people to enter a career in Coding and in the afternoon we will have Tech She Can delivering a live Assembly for Primary learners focused on Cybersecurity, see below for full details.
The theme for this year’s National Coding Week is Artificial Intelligence and currently through DYW Live we’re able to offer a full year course “The Wonders of AI & the Cloud” which on successful completion students will gain 4 highly valued international gold standard Microsoft Certifications as well as an SCQF Level 6 award. Signups for The Wonders of AI & the Cloud close 24th September and there are limited spaces available (30 learners). If interested see full details here.
Morning Inspiration Session
Interested in finding out more about careers in the digital sector? There's more to it than just coding! Maria Bell, co-founder of award winning Shetland based software company Mesomorphic, will spend 45 minutes talking about the different areas along with how learners can benefit from the different routes into one of the fastest growing employment sectors within Scotland.
Afternoon Primary Assembly
Are your students interested in how we keep our information and devices safe online? Could they see themselves working in a cyber security career in the future?
As part of National Coding Week 2023, join Tech She Can on Tuesday 19th September 14:00, when our Learning Design and Delivery Officer (and experienced primary school teacher), Poppy Patel, will deliver a live virtual 30-minute Tech We Can assembly for children aged 7 - 11.
Poppy will highlight what cyber security issues we face, how technology is used to protect us online and the future careers student's could have in cyber security. Poppy will also set the children an optional follow up creative challenge.
The content is ideal for a P4 - P7 assembly, but you can also join as a class, or even from home.
Please note: This assembly was released in Feb 2023 so if a member of the Tech She Can team, or one of our Tech We Can Champions, has visited your school previously and delivered the ‘Tech for Cyber Assembly’ your students will already have engaged with this content.
